ORLANDO, Fla. – Wed., April 10, 2013 – The Zebra Foundation for Youth® Inc. has named Ken Brown to its board of directors.
“Ken is a welcome addition to our board and brings years of experience working with youth as an arts integration instructor,” said Scott Bowman, chairman of the Zebra Foundation for Youth® board and vice president of client relations at Sara Brady Public Relations Inc.
The Zebra Foundation for Youth’s® mission is to foster hope, dignity and self-respect in lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and all youth (LGBT+) and provide them the opportunity to grow up in a safe, healthy and supportive environment. Donations to the Zebra Foundation directly support LGBT+ youth, primarily through programs and services provided by the Zebra Coalition®.
Brown is a native of Youngstown, Ohio, where he worked as a steelworker for 25 years for the Harsco Corporation. After his retirement from the steel industry, he became an arts integration instructor at Legacy Academy, working to instill his passion for theater in youth in grades K-8. He was also active in community theater in Youngstown as an actor, director and producer in many local productions.
Brown and his partner, Bob Poe, currently reside in Orlando and Beverly Hills, Calif.
The Zebra Coalition® was established in response to the growing number of LGBT+ youth who are experiencing homelessness, bullying, extreme physical and sexual abuse, isolation from their families and a wide range of life challenges. It is a network of 22 Central Florida social service providers, government agencies, schools, and colleges and universities that provides a full continuum of services to at-risk LGBT+ youth.

The Zebra Coalition® provides individualized recovery and counseling programs for young people facing homelessness; bullying; physical, sexual and substance abuse; and isolation from their families.
