Erin Snead | Master of Social Work Intern, University of Central Florida

Erin joined the Zebra Coalition® team in August 2012 and is providing case management support to our youth.

“I enjoy helping our youth feel respected and appreciated and encouraging them to just be themselves.  Zebra Coalition® has shown me that nurturing, advocating, supporting and encouraging youth is the most important role I can have and truly does make an impact on others.”

“Zebra Coalition® is such a wonderful organization because of the strong sense of support available to youth and the organization’s ability to bring people together with a common cause of helping those in need.”

Jamar Williamson | Bachelor of Social Work Intern, University of Central Florida

Jamar joined the Zebra Coalition® team in January 2013 and is providing case management support to our youth. After graduating in May, he will be relocating to New York City to continue working in the social work field while pursuing a career in the performing arts.

Like a lot of our youth at Zebra Coalition® “I faced countless obstacles that proved challenging from a lack of resources, poor exposure to education and even being bullied throughout my K-12 experience.”

Kim Boyle | Bachelor of Social Work Intern, University of Central Florida

Kim joined the Zebra Coalition® team in January 2013 and is providing case management support to our youth.

“I believe it is important to empower and assist LGBT+ youth in our community. I have a passion for advocacy and empowerment in the transgender community; after finishing my Masters of Social Work degree I hope to continue my work with the LGBT+ community.”

“I cannot describe the feeling I get when knowing that, with our help, a youth’s life has been changed for the better. Working with Zebra Coalition® has been a memorable and life changing experience, and I look forward to watching us grow.”

Nicole Laporte | Master of Social Work Intern, University of Central Florida

Nicole joined the Zebra Coalition® team in August 2012 and is providing case management support to our youth.

“We have all seen in recent years, portrayed in the eyes of the media, the teens who have been bullied to the point of suicide, or the increasing homelessness of the youth because of abandonment, often because of their sexual orientation.  The Zebra Coalition® listened and responded. And just after a few years, the statistics speak for themselves of the positive impact we have made.”

Samantha McHarg | Bachelor of Social Work Intern, University of Central Florida

Samantha joined the Zebra Coalition® team in January 2013 and is providing case management support to our youth. After graduating in May she plans to pursue a Masters of Social Work.

“I’m excited about the goals of the Zebra Coalition®, as well how the organization is executing its goals with a community approach. I believe that people are best served  when agencies and organizations are collaborating to provide services.”

“The Zebra Coalition® benefits this community in many ways. It serves as a safe, accepting environment for youth to be out and express themselves, it provides information about diversity and sexuality, it promotes culturally competent socializing skills, and its presence in the community alone creates awareness about the LGBT+ population.”

Each of these individuals brings a great deal of talent to our team. We love having them around and the work we do would not be the same without them.
