National Volunteer Week – Celebrating our Zebra Coalition® Volunteers April 21 – April 27

National Volunteer Week is a time to celebrate people doing extrordinary things through service. Meet the Rollins College Mission Possible: Zebra Team (Alaine Jolicoeur, Breanna Rack, Danielle Cameron, Emerald Ferrin, Juliana Dubendorff, Sabrina Kent and Scott Novak)  one of our incredible Zebra Coalition® volunteer groups.

Rollins College Mission Possible: Zebra Team was connected to the Zebra Coalition® by a class at Rollins College called “Strategies for Changemakers” that explores ways to create effective social change.

The issue of LGBT homelessness often goes unnoticed, and most homeless shelters don’t have programs and resources targeted at LGBT youth. For this reason, the Zebra Coalition® is a true community innovator and sets itself apart from other organizations in the country.

Volunteering at Zebra Coalition® has taught us that there is always a way to help, even when traditional societal attitudes seem to close the door on LGBT issues. Zebra Coalition® is important to our community because there are very few organizations in the United States that cater to the specific needs of the at-risk LGBT population in creative ways that have otherwise been unexplored. We love the Zebra Coalition®!

And we love the Rollins College Mission Possible: Zebra Team! Thank you Alaine, Breanna, Danielle, Emerald, Juliana, Sabrina and Scott for supporting our mission and providing support and assistance to our organization.
